This was the old Angl\u00e8s railway station, on the line that linked Olot to Sant Feliu de Gu\u00edxols. After the arrival of electricity, the Olot train was the most important technological innovation seen in El Giron\u00e8s, La Selva and La Garrotxa regions at the start of the 20th century. The launch of that railway business meant the modernisation of transport, which offered much greater speed and load capacity than the traditional system of sprung carts and wagons. The opening of the entire route covered by the new railway link between Girona and Olot took place on 14 December 1911, although the section of the line from Amer to Salt had already been operational since 1895. As for the Carrilet railway station in Angl\u00e8s, despite public complaints, it was located in front of the Bur\u00e9s industries for private convenience. In 1969, when the line ceased operating, the station was abandoned and fell into disuse until the building and its surroundings were torn down in the 1990s.<\/p>\n
Currently, the Carrilet railway station in Angl\u00e8s performs two functions, serving both as a local police station and a municipal warehouse. As you can see, the surrounding area has been landscaped and, like many sections of the railway, it has been fitted out as a cycle path that forms part of the Girona Greenways.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
