At the beginning of the 20th century, a decisive
\nstep towards the modernisation of transport
\nwas taken with the introduction of trains from
\nOlot to the counties of El Giron\u00e8s, La Selva
\nand La Garrotxa. The complete railway line
\nbetween Girona and Olot was completed on
\n14 December 1911, although the section from
\nAmer to Salt had been in operation since 1895.
\nThis was the old railway station on the line
\nbetween Olot and Sant Feliu de Gu\u00edxols.
\nAlong with the station building, some of the
\nold facilities have been preserved, including
\nworkshops, locomotive depots, tracks,
\ncovered and uncovered docks and even a
\nrailway turntable. The station operated until
\n1969, when the train was dismantled and the stations repurposed for other uses. Currently,
\nthis station forms part of the recreational travel
\nroute for pedestrians and bicycles along the
\nCarrilet greenway. The remaining structures
\nhave been refurbished: the main station building
\ninto a hostel, the former workshops as a multipurpose
\nhall, while the former depot houses a
